Nintendo Wii Finding Tips
Here are some tips to help you find and buy and Nintendo Wii.
- Keep checking the Nintendo Wii Finder page for one to pop up.
- If you use a news/rss reader frequently, subscribe to the Wii Finder Feed.
- Use the Wii Finder Widget (for Windows and Mac) to keep an eye on things.
- If you don't use a news/rss reader, you can still take advantage of the Wii Finder Feed by using Feed Crier to send the updates to your instant messenger (desktop client, mobile phone, you get the idea). Heck, even if you do use a news reader, using Feed Crier to send feed updates to your IM is still cool. BTW, the feed only changes when a Wii becomes available, so Feed Crier works for this purpose perfectly. Subscribe with one click!
- Amazon always pre-announces when they expect to have more Nintendo Wii in stock. Go to the Amazon Wii product page and add the Wii to your shopping list (The button on the right side labeled "Add to Shopping List"). Now on the day that the Wiis are set to arrive, go to your personal shopping list page and refresh that page until the Add to Cart button shows up. The shopping list page is much smaller than the actual Wii product page as it doesn't have the extra images, description, comments, reviews, message forum, wiki, etc. It is also a completely different page than the one everyone else will be trying to access so it is more likely to get served.
- Some stores have the price check machines that you take an item to and they display a price. The machines also show how many are currently in inventory, both on the shelves and in the back. If the store has one, scan the following from a Nintendo Wii (print this page and take it with you!). If there are none in stock, move on to the next store.
- Ask what time the store receives its UPS shipments. Nintendo ships Wii via UPS and you need to be at the store about 30 minutes before UPS arrives to drop off shipments. Let the store know exactly what you are doing (waiting for a possible Wii in the shipment) and they will tell you where to wait. This positions you first to get any Wiis.
